Bayern Munich defeated Tottenham 3-2 in a gripping contest at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a pre-season game. For Tottenham Dejan Kulusevski scored twice; for Bayern, Dayot Upamecano, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller found the net. Bayern controlled the game with 21 shots and 56% possession. Additionally, this game was Harry Kane's first against his previous team, thereby adding even more excitement to the competition.

Harry Kane displays class as England star refuses to lift trophy against Tottenham

After Bayern Munich beat Spurs in the pre-season Visit Malta Cup, Harry Kane made news when he turned down to collect a trophy in front of Tottenham's home supporters. Though Bayern won 3-2 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Kane—who came on as a second-half replacement with former colleague Eric Dier—opted not to raise the trophy as a sign of respect for his previous team. The fact that Kane never won any trophy during his tenure at Tottenham perhaps had an impact on this choice even with his remarkable career.

For Kane, the game was emotionally intense; it was his first trip back to North London following his Bayern Munich acquisition. Kane ended as a runner-up in multiple cup finals for both club and nation, however he still lacks a big title to call from on the pitch. Recent events include a painful defeat with England in the Euro 2024 final as well as a near-miss in the Bundesliga whereby Bayern Munich lost the league.

Starting with the DFB-Pokal game against second-tier team Ulm, Kane hopes to land his first significant prize with Bayern Munich. Tottenham will start their Premier League campaign against Leicester on August 19th, with new striker Dominic Solanu covering for Kane's absence.
