"Hurts badly": Eddie Howe expresses disappointment after Newcastle's loss in EFL cup final

Both sides had headed into the game hoping that a victory would provide the catalyst to a brighter future.
United had not won silverware since 2017, but a Casemiro header and a Sven Botman own goal inside six first half minutes proved to be enough to see off Newcastle's challenge.
Newcastle's own wait for silverware goes on - they last tasted success in 1969 when the Magpies won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, the predecessor to the UEFA Cup, now the Europa League.
"Naturally, disappointed," Howe said. "Pleased with how we played. I thought we were really good between both boxes today. But in the boxes is where games are won or lost and I think today we didn't get the big moments right defensively and with the chances we had, we weren't clinical enough and probably didn't create enough for the ball we had around the box."
"To see the fans disappointed at the end hurts, hurts badly," he added.
