For almost ten years, Raheem Sterling has been an integral part of the Premier League, playing for Liverpool, Manchester City, and currently Chelsea. Sterling, known for his explosive speed, seems to be nearing the end of his career with the London-based club after Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s statement on the player.

What did Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca say about Raheem Sterling?

Further adding to the doubt about Raheem Sterling's future is Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca's disclosure that he would not be featured in any forthcoming games for the team. During the Blues' 0-2 loss to Manchester City in their Premier League opening on Sunday, August 18, Sterling was conspicuously absent from their team.

Speculation over Sterling's role at Stamford Bridge has been stoked by his exclusion. According to Standard reports referenced by GOAL, the former Manchester City star has come to grips with the possibility of his time with Chelsea running short.

The paper claims Sterling is currently searching intensively for a new team. Dealing with the problem, Maresca offered comments as quoted by Fabrizio Romano:

“I've been honest, he will have no minutes here. I am not saying Raheem is not a good player but I prefer different kind of wingers. It's simple.”

With just three years left on his Chelsea deal, Raheem Sterling's prospective employers would probably have to shell out a sizeable sum to get his talents. If the 29-year-old chooses to stay at Stamford Bridge, though, he will be highly competitive for wide area playing time.

Pedro Neto is likely to play left, while Mykhailo Mudryk may also contend. Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke looked well in Chelsea's first league game of the season.

Rising Sterling has made 81 appearances in all competitions since the summer of 2022 when he joined Chelsea; he has scored 19 goals and sent out 12 assists. Though he works in west London, the winger has not collected any medals or trophies.
