ISL: Mumbai City CEO confirms Anwar Ali to be replaced by Asif Khan

Mohammed Asif Khan was confirmed on Thursday evening as the latest entrant in Mumbai City FC's squad for the ongoing ISL 2019-20 season. Anwar Ali, who was diagnosed with a severe medical condition, will be replaced by the eighteen-year-old Asif Khan. The attacking midfielder has made a name for himself in Mumbai City FC's U-18 side. He found the net four times last season and had two assists to his name for the Under-18 side in the I-League 2018-19. Mohammed Asif Khan's screamer against Iron Born FC was voted as the club's best goal in 2019 by the fans, which also won him the MCFC Goal Cup.

Ali got aware of his heart disease during one of his medical tests in Mumbai. Anwar Ali, who showed great calibre, will travel to France to get further medical attention. Mumbai City FC CEO Indranil Das Blah recently in an interview stated that it is a very difficult moment for the youngster. Ali will be undergoing an evaluation with further tests to determine the exact nature of his condition. Indranil Das ensured that everyone at Mumbai City FC along with the AIFF will be doing everything they can to help him. 

Mumbai City FC manager Jorge Costa mentioned that Mohammed Asif Khan is a raw talent who has tremendous potential. Costa informed that Asif has been training with the senior side since the start of the season and he has shown massive talent during their training sessions. The boss believes that Asif Khan's urge to win and his nature to prove himself on the field will make him an asset for the Mumbai City FC squad.
