'He's Been A Great Player': Jude Bellingham Backed To Win Ballon D'Or By Legendary England Striker

Jude Bellingham is the eye of everyone's cherry after his fantastic performance at Euro 2024 for England and for Real Madrid throughout the season. He has singlehandedly managed to save England from an embarrassing elimination at Euro 2024 by scoring a 95th minute equaliser for Three Lions in the Round of 16 against Slovakia. 

Given his exploits in the Euros and his excellent season with Real Madrid in which he was pivotal in them winning the Champions League and La Liga and England's legendary striker Michael Owen believes that Jude Bellingham deserves the Ballon d'Or ahead of Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe.

Michael Owen backs Jude Bellingham to win the Ballon d'Or

Former England and Liverpool legend Michael Owen is adamant that if England were to win the Euro 2024 then there is no doubt that Jude Bellingham will be crowned Ballon d'Or winner for 2024. 

Michael Owen himself won the Ballon d'Or back in 2001 for his fantastic season and he believes that Jude's fantastic performance in winning the Champions League and La Liga has been immense. 

“Yes, absolutely. If England win the European Championship then Jude Bellingham will win the Ballon d'Or. He's won the Champions League, he's won La Liga. He's been a great player all season and if he wins the European Championship I think he wins the Ballon d'Or,” said Michael Owen to Republic in a round table. 

However, Michael Owen did concede that winning the Euros will be crucial and if England were to lose then players like Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe will be in the picture. 

 “But absolutely, If England win the European Championships then I guess Jude Bellingham will win the Ballon d'Or”, - Michael Owen

Jude Bellingham has scored twice at the Euros for England. He scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists for Real Madrid in 2023/24 season, winning the UCL and La Liga. As things stand Jude's Real Madrid teammate Vinicius Jr is the favourite to win the Ballon d'Or but the ongoing Copa America and Euros are expected to be a deciding factor. 

Up next for Jude Bellingham and England will be a tough fixture against Switzerland in the quarterfinal of Euro 2024.
