Kylian Mbappe agrees Real Madrid transfer, defying Premier League speculation-Reports
Concerns have been raised by Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain over Kylian Mbappe's date for deciding on his future with a new twist in the saga.
The Real Madrid transfer story involving Kylian Mbappe has been one of the most talked-about subjects in the sports world. In nearly every transfer window, the French skipper has been close to leaving PSG, with Los Blancos always said to be interested. But first, let's examine the latest developments in the transfer drama.
3 things you need to know
- Mbappe’s contract expires in June 2024
- Mbappe is reportedly uninterested in renewing his contract with PSG
- Real Madrid have suffered with many injury concerns in the squad recently
Have Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid reached an agreement?
According to a recent Foot Mercato story, Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid are reportedly in agreement for Mbappe to go to the Spanish capital during the summer of 2024. Unlike earlier reports from The Times, which stated Mbappe was considering a possible transfer to the Premier League because he wasn't happy with Real's efforts to get a pre-contract deal.
With the French World Cup champion reportedly finalising agreements with Real Madrid to make the transition when his contract expires in the summer, the continuing Mbappe controversy has taken a new turn. This development runs counter to previous rumours that said he was thinking about joining the Premier League and that he was unhappy with Real Madrid's attempts to get a pre-contract deal.
For a few years now, Mbappe's future has been a major topic of discussion. The 25-year-old allegedly told PSG before of the 2023–24 season that he had decided not to renew his contract. He restated this position last week, highlighting a current contract with PSG that is crucial to his future.
It's interesting to note that Mbappe had previously rejected Real Madrid in 2022, ostensibly coming to an understanding with the Spanish powerhouses before changing his mind. Rather, he chose a lucrative contract that allowed him to stay in Paris for two years, which he seems to have taken advantage of. Should new conditions not be reached at PSG, Mbappe could be able to leave for Madrid without paying a transfer price.
The top player of PSG will have to decide in the coming months about where he wants to play next, and there are rumours that Liverpool are also a contender. Mbappe, however, is anticipated to continue playing a significant role in helping PSG win the Ligue 1 title and advance without incident to the Champions League round of 16 for the rest of the season.
