Mbappe could keep his current PSG deal and become a free agent if he decides to do so. Since Mbappe stated his wish to leave PSG earlier this summer, tensions between the two parties have been evident. At the end of his contract in 2024, PSG has steadfastly refused to permit Mbappe to go on a free transfer. The Ligue 1 winners gave Mbappe two choices to deal with this: either trigger the contract extension clause, prolong his stay until 2025 or sign a new, longer-term contract. These discussions might include a provision guaranteeing a sale in any subsequent agreements.

However, rumours indicate that Mbappe has turned down the offer that was made to him.
