Man of the match performance: Kylian Mbappe
Mbappe has started just four times this season in all competitions due to his ongoing struggle with injuries. He returned to action against Nice on Saturday where he came off the bench for the Parisians. Once again having been introduced after the break, Mbappe injected a much-needed flair into the PSG attack that was missing Neymar and Edinson Cavani. He scored three times in the space of 22 minutes while also setting up Mauro Icardi in the process. Thanks to his brilliance, PSG beat Club Brugge 5-0, to solidify their knockout chances in the Champions League. Mbappe has now become the youngest player to score 15 Champions League goals aged 20 years 302 days eclipsing Lionel Messi in the process.
Post-match interviews and applauds
In the post-match interview, he stated that he just intended to show his worth to PSG. He was glad to be back after the last few painful months and is hoping that the injuries are behind him.
PSG manager Thomas Tuchel added that Mbappe was probably ready to start the game, but he did not want to rush the attacker prematurely. Tuchel lauded Mbappe's instant impact while also appreciating Mauro Icardi who stepped up during the injury crisis for the club. PSG captain Thiago Silva also heaped praise on Kylian Mbappe after his record-breaking performance by quoting: 'He is magnificent'
What next?
PSG are now five points clear of Real Madrid at the top of Group A with three wins in three games and poised for a top spot in the group. They face Marseille in the league next on October 28, where Mbappe would be hoping to start and continue his goalscoring exploits.
