A victory over Villarreal healed Real Madrid from the midweek Champions League blues against Lille FC. While the result did appear in favour, a big setback also struck the reigning La Liga and UCL champs. One of the club's undisputed starters Dani Carvajal ruptured his ACL in the contest against the Yellow Submarine and thus the RB's season is more or less over. Carvajal's injury comes as a striking headache for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as a full-fledged alternate is not available on the bench. Therefore, exploring the transfer market comes as a reasonable solution. However, Real Madrid have different plans in store.

Lucas Vazquez to Fill the Void of Dani Carvajal in Real Madrid

With all the financial power and the glory pull, Real Madrid could attract any player in the world. Moreover, as a dire situation has emerged, one would expect Real Madrid to search for an able replacement for Dani Carvajal in the January transfer window. Despite having the liberty to pick and choose, the Los Blancos will trust an old guard to lift them out of this abyss.

According to the reports, Real Madrid has full faith in Lucas Vazquez's ability to adapt to the requirements of a right-back. Vazquez has featured as an RB before, that too in crucial games like a Champions League semi-final. Vazquez took the onus during the second leg of Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich UCL 2017/18 semi-final. As a versatile player, he shined as the RB and gave an edge to the Royal Whites both at the front and while dropping back.

Lucas Vazquez will be expected to fill the void of Carvajal again. It will be intriguing to witness how he will cope, as this time he will be required to take up the role as an RB for a longer period. What do you think will Vazquez succeed?
