Lionel Messi reportedly tells coach Tite to 'shut up' in friendly against Brazil

Lionel Messi's return to international football after a three-month ban paid dividends as the Barcelona star scored the only goal in Argentina's 1-0 win.

Lionel Messi's Argentina return saw his side emerge winners in the Brazil vs Argentina friendly in Riyadh earlier this week. Lionel Messi, however, didn't seem too happy with Brazil coach Tite. The Barcelona star was reportedly seen signalling the Brazil coach to "shut up" after the pair exchanged some words in the first half of the game.

Lionel Messi's first-half goal saw Argentina secure a win against their South American rivals. In what was Messi's first appearance for Argentina after serving a three-match ban, the Barcelona mainstay asked Brazil coach Tite to "shut up" during the game. Messi's reaction came after Tite appeared furious when Lionel Messi dodged a yellow card during the first half. Tite's vehement appeals fell on deaf ears as Lionel Messi escaped a booking. Messi, however, did notice Tite's appeals and was pictured asking the Brazil coach to "shut up" during the game.

Brazil vs Argentina result

The Brazil vs Argentina game was not without its controversy. Two penalties were awarded in the game, one to each side. However, both penalties failed to find the net after Brazil's Gabriel Jesus fired wide and Lionel Messi had his penalty saved by Alisson. Lionel Messi did, however, slot in the rebound to hand Argentina the win.

Brazil have struggled to drum up some form since their Copa America win over Argentina and they carried that form into the Brazil vs Argentina friendly. Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez were lively throughout the game. Brazil's custodian Alisson Becker, however, was up to the challenge, as he tipped Lionel Messi's free-kick over the bar. The loss against Argentina means that Brazil have now failed to register a victory in their last five outings.
