England and Liverpool fullback, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has officially been recognized in the Guinness World Record Book for providing 12 assists in the 2018-19 season. The English player became a regular player in the starting XI for Liverpool as they missed out on the premier league title by 2 points against Manchester City. The fullback's impressive performance rewarded him with a place in the PFA premier league team of the year.

A rare feat for a defender

It is rare that Arnold managed to provide 12 assists, a new record for a premier league defender and just one more than his team-mate Andy Robertson, who provided a total of 11 assists.

Trent stated that is was a proud moment for him as he was able to surpass the previous record held by Everton defenders Andy Hinchcliffe in the 1994-95 season and Leighton Baines in the 2010-11 season.

He added that it was an honour for him to help his team to win matches in every season and every competition they are a part of. Trent said that it was not an individual effort but a team effort that got him to such a position. Lastly, Arnold said that it was an extremely emotional and a proud moment for him and his family.

A double injury boost

Meanwhile, Liverpool was handed a double injury boost as first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, and center-back, Joel Matip made themselves available for selection before the Reds travel to Old Trafford on October 20. Alisson was sidelined due to a calf injury since their match against Norwich City in the first week of the 2019-20 tournament while Matip was sidelined since Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Sheffield United.

Liverpool is currently perched at the top of the table after winning all of their 8 matches and scoring a maximum of 24 points. They next face Manchester United who is at a lowly 12th position and have not won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.
