'See you next season': Luka Modric confirms he is renewing with Real Madrid for one more season

Luka Modric has confirmed that he will renew with Real Madrid for one more season after Los Blancos won their 15th Champions League title.

There was a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Luka Modric at Real Madrid. A few weeks ago the expectation was that the Croatian midfield maestro will be departing the club at the end of season. 

But as it turned out, Luka Modric instead won his record 6th Champions League crown with Real Madrid and is now all set to stay for Real Madrid till June 2025. 

Real Madrid on Saturday lifted their record extending 15th Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in London. Post the victory the Madrid players headed home and celebrated their 15th Champions League crown with their traditional visit to the Community of Madrid and bus parade at the Plaza de Cibelles. 

They carried on their celebrations with a massive party at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and during the celebrations Luka Modric confirmed his renewal.

Luka Modric confirms his renewal with Real Madrid 

During the celebrations at the Santiago Bernabeu, Luka Modric was presented to the fans. The Croatian then want on to announce to the fans at the Bernabeu that he will be staying for one more year. 

He simply announced on microphone saying, “See you next season Madridistas”. 

This announcement confirmed reports by top journalists like Fabrizio Romano and Mario Cortegana that the Croatian has renewed for one more season to continue at Real Madrid.

Luka Modric rejected big money to stay at Real Madrid 

According to Fabrizio Romano, Luka Modric had some big money proposals from Saudi Arabia and other clubs across Europe, but the Croatian didn't want to leave Real Madrid.  

Luka Modric has accepted lesser playing time and lesser salary than what he could have gotten had he left the club to stay one more year with Los Blancos as he confirmed just like Toni Kroos, he wants to retire at Real Madrid.
