Luka Modric Extends Contract With Real Madrid, Becomes New Club Captain

Real Madrid have announced Luka Modric has renewed his contract with the club till and is named as the new captain of Los Blancos.

Real Madrid on Wednesday has officially announced the contract renewal of club legend and midfield maestro Luka Modric for one more season. 

This contract extension will take Luka Modric's stint at the Spanish Capital to 13 years as he pens a new deal till June 30, 2025. Real Madrid also confirmed that Luka Modric will become the new club captain for this season after the departure of Nacho to Saudi Arabia. 

Real Madrid announce Luka Modric's Contract Extension

Real Madrid confirmed in an official statement released on their website that they have renewed Luka Modric's contract till June 30, 2025. 

“Real Madrid and Luka Modrić have agreed to extend the contract of our CAPTAIN, who remains linked to the club until June 30, 2025,” said Real Madrid in their official announcement.

After the unveiling of Real Madrid's latest Galactico, Kylian Mbappe yesterday Los Blancos on 17th July finally penned the renewal of Luka Modric to a new contract. 

Luka Modric's Splendid Career With Real Madrid

Luka Modric has enjoyed a special career in his 12 years headlining the midfield of Real Madrid. In his 12 years at Los Blancos, Luka Modric is the most decorated player in Real Madrid history with 26 titles to his name. 

Luka Modric has won 6 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 Leagues, 2 Copa del Rey and 5 Spanish Super Cups. With Real Madrid's Champions League triumph in 2024, Luka Modric became one of only five playes to have won 6 Champions League titles.

Luka Modric also won the Ballon d'Or in 2018 after his amazing performances in Real Madrid's 13th Champions League triumph and Croatia's run to the 2018 World Cup triumph. 

Modric formed one of the most dominant midfield trios in history with Toni Kroos and Casemiro but with Toni Kroos' retirement after Euro 2024, Luka Modric enters his 13th season as the captain and only player of the iconic trio remaining.
