Manchester City's Phil Foden sets Guinness World record; here's why

Midfielder Phil Holden was awarded the Guinness world record for being the youngest ever player to win the Barclays Premier League, in the 2018-19 season

Manchester City midfielder Phil Holden was recently awarded the Guinness world record for being the youngest ever player to win the Barclays Premier League during the 2018-19 season. Holden was just 17 years and 350 days when he lifted the trophy with Manchester City and entered the Guinness books. Phil broke the record previously held by former Arsenal defender, Gael Clichy, who had won the Premier League with the Gunners in the 2003-04 season at the age of 18 years and 10 months.

The youngest player to win the Premier league

In an interview, the 19-year-old midfielder stated that he was really happy with what he had achieved. In addition to this, Holden said that he was unaware of what had happened until the time somebody did not tell him. He also said that it was a good feeling to be recognized and cool to hold a world record. 

Phil posted a tweet to share the news of his world record with a caption that talked about how it is not impossible to achieve anything in life.

After the City midfielder was awarded the title, he stated that his main goal is to keep on playing regularly and win the Premier League along with his team. He also talked about how is a hunger to win trophies had increased after winning the Under-17 FIFA world cup with England. The English team had won the title after battering Spain 5-2 in the final. Phil had also awarded the trophy of the best player of the tournament.

'There are a lot of games to go'

In the events that preceded this, Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola stated that his defending champions have a lot of games to determine their fate and show their capability in the 2019-20 season. With the pressure mounting on every team as the league progresses, second-placed City are six points behind first-placed Liverpool.
