Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz. The 20-year-old was one of the best players in the Bundesliga last season with 17 goals and three assists in 34 appearances. The German winger has also attracted interest from a host of top European clubs including Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Havertz is valued at £80million
The midfielder has been a regular in Joachim Leow’s Germany squad. He has scored two goals in nine appearances so far in the Bundesliga this season and has caught the eye of Manchester United chiefs. United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is reportedly confident of hiring the services of the midfielder with an estimated fee of £80 million likely to be sufficient to bring the player to Old Trafford.
Havertz recently spoke about his future to a section of media while on international duty with Germany. He was adamant in clarifying that any decision about his future will be solely decided by him. He went on to say that he listens to many people but in the end, it will be his decision.

He said that he will embrace any advice Leow will give him because he has a lot of experience and that it would not be smart to not listen to him. United are looking to strengthen their midfield after the team’s dismal performance this season along with their injury crisis. The club is presently placed 10th on the Premier League table and look to strengthen their squad in the winter transfer window to secure a place in the top four.
Havertz made his first-team debut for Leverkusen in 2016 and has made 118 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals in total. The player could be a revitalizing force for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side.
