'New Sir Alex Ferguson': Ruben Amorim Makes BOLD Comparison Ahead Of Joining Manchester United

Ruben Amorim is all set to take over as the new head coach of Manchester United starting from November 11th. Amorim will join Manchester United as their new manager after the club decided to part ways with out of favour coach Erik Ten Hag. 

There's a lot of anticipation among Manchester United fans over the arrival of Ruben Amorim and before taking over as the new man in charge at Old Trafford, Amorim has made a bold comparison with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ruben Amorim is the currently finalising his duties as the manager of Sporting CP and will join the Red Devils during the international break. In an interesting turn of events, his final game before taking over as Manchester United manager is against their arch rivals Manchester City . 

Amorim's Sporting will take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in their UEFA Champions League group stage fixture on Tuesday at Lisbon. 

Ahead of the encounter, Amorim joked that if he beat Manchester City he will be declared as the new Sir Alex Ferguson. 

“If the result is negative, the expectations about me will drop…But if we win, they will think the new Sir Alex Ferguson has arrived,” said Ruben Amorim in his pre-match press conference. 

Ruben Amorim's first match in charge of Manchester United will be against Ipswich Town on 24th November.

Ruben Amorim's record as manager

Ruben Amorim took over as the manager of Sporting CP back in 2020 and has since then managed to establish himself as one of the best Portuguese managers.

Amorim has won two Liga Portugal titles with Sporting CP in 2020-21 and 2023-24. Amorim has been named Liga Portugal Manager of the Month on 8 different occasions and has won the Manger of the Season twice. His appointment is certainly an exciting prospect for Manchester United fans.
