These 114 fans will receive a special reward for the reverse game against Shakhtar to be held at the Etihad in two weeks. In one of the letters addressed to one of these fans named Darren, Guardiola stated that on Wednesday, Darren and 113 other dedicated supporters made the long trip to watch City play against Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine, and that he would like to take this opportunity to appreciate their presence. Guardiola added that he was so pleased to start their Champions League campaign with a victory. That they faced a tough Shakhtar team but he felt that the team played well, controlled the game and deserved to win.
Fans will be invited for the return leg
He went on to add that as a gesture of thanks, City would like to invite them to a City hospitality experience at the return fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk on November 26, 2019. Etihad’s famous Tunnel Club experience allows fans to watch from heated seats behind the dugout. Fans can see both the teams walkout in the glass players' tunnel and they can enjoy a five-course fine dining experience.
Manchester City are likely to qualify for the knockout round as they need just one point to qualify for the round of 16. They had missed the chance to advance in the tournament in their previous match against Atalanta, in a fixture that saw defender Kyle Walker end up in goal after substitute goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was sent off. Shakhtar are placed second in the table, level with Dinamo Zagreb on five points, and will have plenty to play for at the Etihad as they still dream of reaching the Round of 16.
