Liverpool went nine points clear of Manchester City with a 3-1 victory over the Premier League champions on Sunday, November 10. The game at Anfield lived up to the hype with both the sides having a go at each other. Liverpool eventually triumphed thanks to goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

Premier League: Liverpool vs Manchester City match report
The game was just as entertaining and controversial as it could be. Despite dominating the proceedings early on, Manchester City found them a goal behind when Fabinho's venomous strike sailed past Claudio Bravo in the 6th minute. The goal came just after City were controversially denied a penalty after an apparent handball by Trent Alexander-Arnold was not penalised by VAR. Liverpool soon scored another when the two Liverpool full-backs combined brilliantly to feed Mohamed Salah with an easy header at goal. Sadio Mane put the game to bed in the second half when City were once again caught out at the back by an exquisite cross by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson. Bernardo Silva did reduce the deficit to two, but by that Liverpool were ready to sit back and soak up the pressure. The game ended at 3-1 to Liverpool.

Liverpool beat the champions to stamp their authority in the league heading into the November international break. As for Manchester City, they have already lost thrice in the league and have dropped behind Chelsea and Leicester City to fourth. Pep Guardiola was, of course disappointed, as he felt his side were denied two clear-cut penalty opportunities. His side appeared to be at their fluent best but have once again fallen victim to a Jurgen Klopp-led side.
"The way we played was incredible, I'm so proud of my players – away from home against the best team in Europe...with the injuries that we had in the squad the way we played was awesome"
