Premier League Matchday 11: Everton vs Tottenham preview and team news
Tottenham pay a visit to Goodison Park to face Everton on Matchday 11 of the Premier League. Both teams have lost their earlier fixtures in the league.
Everton vs Tottenham seems to be a match-up of similar fortunes. Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham Hotspur pay a visit to Goodison Park as they look to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat against league leaders Liverpool last weekend. Marco Silva's Everton looked set to share the spoils during their last Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion. However, an own goal from Lucas Digne in the dying minutes of the game means that Everton are now 16th in the Premier League table.
Premier League: Everton preview
Marco Silva's Everton are in the middle of a slump this season. Having made a host of signings in the summer, Everton were well primed to launch themselves into the top six of the Premier League this season. However, after six losses and just three wins so far, the Toffees now find themselves dangerously close to the relegation zone. However, Everton do have good quality across their squad, with Theo Walcott starting to show form and Richarlison getting on the scoresheet during their Carabao Cup win over Watford. Marco Silva will be hoping that the likes of Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson also start to show some form, as the Toffees find themselves in dire straits after 10 Premier League games this season.
Premier League: Tottenham preview
Tottenham Hotspur are currently just two points ahead of Everton in the Premier League table. Shock defeats to Brighton and Newcastle early this season means that Tottenham find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League for the first time since Pochettino took charge of the Lilywhites. A 2-1 loss to Liverpool in their last Premier League outing didn't help their fortunes either. Such is Tottenham's form that they have conceded 15 goals already this season - one fewer than Everton.
Everton vs Tottenham: Injury updates
Yerry Mina is a doubt for Marco Silva's side, despite returning to training this week. Jean Phillipe-Gbamin is the long-term absentee for the Toffees, with the £22.5m summer signing not expected to return to the Everton squad this year. Danny Rose is suspended for this fixture, which means Ben Davies could slot in at left-back. Erik Lamela will also not feature for Tottenham this weekend. With Vertonghen all but ruled out for this fixture, Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez look likely to start in the heart of defence. With the likes of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso, Richarlison, Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen set to feature in this game, Everton vs Tottenham looks likely to be the pick of the Matchday 11 fixtures in the Premier League.
