Rafael Nadal could become new Real Madrid president

Recently, rumors regarding Florentino Perez, the current president of Real Madrid, resigning from office started to spread. Nadal, a 22-time tennis Grand Slam champion, is already being mentioned as a potential replacement. Real Madrid rejected the reports that Perez is departing, although Mundo Deportivo asserts that Perez intends to step down after the Santiago Bernabeu stadium renovation is finished. The 15th president of Real Madrid is apparently looking for the greatest candidate to succeed him once construction on the stadium is complete.

Rafael Nadal was not mentioned by Mundo Deportivo when they reported on Perez's decision to quit. It was instead Sport, another Spanish publication. The plan, according to Sport, is to create a new presidential framework for Perez to take over from, with the incoming president being someone "with more representative character than executive." Sport further reports that Emilio Butragueno, the club's current head of institutional relations, would take over the "white throne" even if Perez's dream is to install Nadal as president.

It's also likely that Nadal and Butragueno will both take control of Real Madrid CF, with the legendary tennis player holding "a more honorary position" as opposed to focusing on executive duties, which Butragueno would assume. So, Rafael Nadal is unveiling players at Santiago Bernabeu, an iconic sight that will be, right?
