Real Madrid's performance this season seems to have dropped since Toni Kroos retired. His absence has clearly caused some difficulties for the squad, especially in the midfield and attack. Their recent performances clearly show the changes required after his departure, therefore reflecting the loss of such a powerful player.

Toni Kroos believes that his retirement won’t impact Real Madrid’s winning ways

Like when they managed without Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos has shown faith in Real Madrid's capacity to adapt in his absence despite recent struggles in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League remarkably their loss to LOSC Lille in their last match. Although he appreciated the importance of these two legends, he pointed out that the squad nevertheless won two Champions League trophies after their departures.

Kroos said in a most recent podcast that he thinks Real Madrid would flourish without him. He underlined that he is hopeful about the present squad's ability to rise to the challenge and that he does not believe the club will suffer his absence. Comment Toni Kroos said:

“Real Madrid has adapted when Cristiano left, when Ramos left... they’ve always adapted and stayed winning. We won the UCL twice without, for example, the two mentioned, although they were very important & are absolute legends. The same will happen to me now.”

“My departure can’t be undone, it’s a fact that has to be accepted and there’s no point in saying: He’s missing! What’s the point? It doesn’t change for the next game. It doesn’t do anyone any good to say: He’s missing. Of course, it’s a compliment that you were important in some way, but it’s about how you adjust that now.”

“I watch Real Madrid matches from a different perspective—it feels kind of strange. But I still see them as part of the team, you can’t just switch that off. Yet, I don’t feel the urge to say, ‘I really want to be out there playing myself’."

"I always hope it goes really well for Real Madrid for 2 reasons: I genuinely wish for all of them to win. But also because I’ve often read that I’m missed. It’s nice to hear, but, I don’t want to hear it, because it feels disrespectful to those who are playing.”

At the end of last season, Toni Kroos declared his farewell from any sort of football. Though he failed in his attempt for the EURO 2024 championship with Germany on home ground, he celebrated winning both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League in his last year with Real Madrid.

Having left Bayern Munich, Kroos made 465 appearances with Real Madrid. Over his remarkable career with the Whites, he registered 28 goals and dished 99 assists.
