Ronaldo: "I don't go looking for them, records come looking for me"
Cristiano Ronaldo stated that "I don't go looking for them, records come looking for me" after he became the 6th player to reach a milestone of 700 goals
Former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has said, "I don't go looking for them, records come looking for me" after he became the 6th player to reach a milestone of 700 goals in his professional career spanning 17 years. He is the all-time top goal scorer in the UEFA Champions League with 127 goals and has netted 94 times for Portugal.
"Thankful to everyone who supported me"
While speaking to an international media outlet after Portugal's match against Ukraine, Ronaldo stated that not everyone can reach this milestone and it was because of his team-mates over the years and everyone who has helped reach this level.
With the current milestone that Ronaldo has reached, it a reflection of what he could accomplish in his early 30s and at Juventus and it is because of his constant dedication and injury-free career that he has been able to accomplish something that only 5 players have managed to do.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has helped his current club, Juventus, to bag 4 points from their first two Group D matches. Both Juventus and Atletico Madrid are at par with 4 points in Group D but the former is perched at the top because of a 1 goal difference.
Cristiano was one of the players who scored for Portugal in their disappointing 2-1 loss to Ukraine in a UEFA Euro 2020 group B qualifying match on October 15. He scored a penalty in vain as his team was not able to grab that one goal they at least needed to draw the match of not win it.
The 6th ever player to achieve such a milestone
With this incredible achievement, Ronaldo became the 6th player to score 700 career goals. The 'exclusive' list is topped by Josef Biscan with 805 goals, Romario with a total of 772 goals, Pele with 767 goals, Ferenc Puskas at 746 goals and former german striker Gerd Muller grabbing the 5th position with 735 career goals.
