Sadio Mane jokingly promises to 'dive' during Liverpool-Man City game

Liverpool striker Sadio Mane has hit back at Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola’s comments and has said that he will not change his style of play after the City boss accused him of diving. The Senegal international, who has been in fine form for Liverpool ahead of their clash with rivals Manchester City, jokingly said that he might dive again if that wins him a penalty. Premier League leaders Liverpool take on defending champions Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola criticizes Sadio Mane's 'special talent'

Pep Guardiola first criticized Sadio Mane last weekend after he was booked for simulation in the game against Aston Villa. The Liverpool forward went down in the penalty area after a challenge from Aston Villa’s Frederic Guilbert in hope of winning his side a penalty. Guardiola rowed back on his comments after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp backed up Mane.

Sadio Mane: I will just play my football like I'm always doing

Sadio Mane offered a sarcastic response to Pep Guardiola’s comments suggesting that he’ll dive again if it wins his team a penalty. He added that it was clever of the Man City boss to get attention ahead of Liverpool’s match against them on Sunday. "I think it's a bit clever from him to get the attention of the referee but I will just play my football like I'm always doing,” Mane was quoted saying to British media outlets. Mane further added that he doesn’t pay attention to Guardiola’s comments and will continue the way he plays. “I don't pay attention to what he's saying because it's part of football. If the 'dive' will give me a penalty then I will do it! Why not? But what Jurgen said is correct. I do not dive,” the forward further added.

Liverpool vs Man City: Sunday showdown

Liverpool take on Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. Liverpool are top of the Premier League Table, having won 10 of their last 11 games. Manchester City are placed 2nd, having collected 25 points from a possible 33. Liverpool missed out on the Premier League title last season finishing just one point off eventual champions Manchester City.
