Serie A 2019-20: Brescia Ultras label Mario Balotelli as 'arrogant'

The Brescia ultras released a statement to cover for their Verona counterparts which stated star striker Mario Balotelli as "arrogant" after he was racially abused in a recent Serie A match. Luca Castellini, the head of a Verona ultras group, has been banned for 11-years by the club over their racist comments on Balotelli the following day. But in a turn of events, some of Brescia ultras came in the support of Castellini and also criticised Balotelli for showing lack of commitment during the match. One of the ultras stated that If Balotelli was not ready psychologically to face the Verona fanbase, then he shouldn't have been playing the match.

Mario Balotelli: Racism in football

The Brescia ultras added that the match was a final chance for their coach to save his job and they could have gone for someone less irritable than Balotelli. The following statement also read that the personal declaration of one of the leaders of the Verona Curva can not justify the witch-hunt sparked by the media to destroy the entire Ultras' world. The statement also clarified that it does not mean that every chant was legitimate and acceptable but all Verona fans are not racists. It also added that the entire fanbase cannot be considered racist, but racism does exist and it is often used to create mass panic in public opinion.
