Son scores an incredible brace against K-League XI to lead Tottenham to glory during the pre-season
Son Heung-min returned triumphantly to Seoul, scoring twice in Tottenham Hotspur's 4-3 success over a K-League All Stars squad in a preseason game on Wednesday.
On the 29th minute, Dejan Kulusevski scored Spurs' first goal. Son then displayed his abilities, skipper of both Tottenham and the national team of South Korea. He cut in from the left flank in the 38th minute and curved a shot from the edge of the box into the top right corner.
Son once again scored soon before halftime, when he collaborated with Kulusevski to elegantly place the ball into the bottom corner, therefore extending Tottenham's advantage to 3-0.
The K-League team made a complete substitution of their entire lineup during the second half, replacing the starting XI that was chosen by the fans.
In the 52nd minute, Emerson Royal's header hit the crossbar, and Stanislav Iljutcenko capitalised on the rebound to score for the K-League team, while Spurs keeper Brandon Austin failed to save a shot by Jeong Jae-hei. Shortly after, Iljutchenko scored a second goal by heading in a pass from Jeong.
Tottenham made multiple replacements, and in the 66th minute Will Lankshear volleyed in a cross from Timo Werner, thereby widening the advantage. When Oberdan volleyed in after Austin punched away a corner in the 81st minute, the K-League squad closed the difference.
Though James Maddison struck the post during stoppage time, Tottenham managed the meagre victory.
Signed by Tottenham on Sunday, South Korean youngster Yang Min-hyeok now plays for Gangwon FC in the K-League. He started for the Korean team but had a quiet game. He will be joining Tottenham in January.
Next Saturday in Seoul, Tottenham will play Bayern Munich.
