Forward Son Heung-min apologised to Andre Gomes after he scored the goal of the night for the Tottenham side in their UEFA Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday, November 6. Tottenham had a 4-0 away win against the hosts Red Star. Son was shocked and seemed sad after his challenge left Everton player Gomes with a broken and dislocated ankle during their last premier league clash against Everton at Goodison Park which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The South Korean international was sent off the field after the incident. However, the Football Association has overturned the decision, and the club have been supporting him about it. In the last match against Red Star, Mauricio Pochettino handed Son a starting spot in his squad. Son did justice to his manager’s decision as the forward scored a brace in the clash.
As soon as Son scored his first goal, he appeared to pray for the injured Everton midfielder as he went towards the camera lens. He joined hands in front of the camera. The gesture was aimed at Andre Gomes. Talking to the press after the match, Son explained that he didn’t want to celebrate because he wants to respect the situation. Tottenham forward stated that he still feels sorry about the situation. He added that it'd been a few days and he wished Andre Gomes a speedy recovery.
