Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo of Brazil have confirmed that three players of its squad have tested positive for COVID-19, but are asymptomatic. The Rio de Janeiro-based club said in a statement it ran tests among the 293 members of its staff, all players, their families and people working at their homes. The club said 38 tests came positive, but did not name any of the infected.
On Monday a Flamengo staffer that worked in the club for 40 years died of COVID-19. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has insisted soccer completions resume during the pandemic. More than 8,500 people died because of the new coronavirus in Brazil.
