Wayne Rooney rolls back the years after a wonderful freekick goal in Manchester United vs Celtic Legends 

During a Legends game versus Celtic at Old Trafford on Saturday, Wayne Rooney displayed his consistent ability by scoring a magnificent free kick for Manchester United. The 38-year-old sent the internet into a frenzy as fans were amazed to see their club legend at home after so many years. 

After Darren Fletcher was fouled by Joe Ledley, Rooney showed his still-potent flair by curling a right-footed effort into the top corner of the goal.

Gary Hooper scored an equaliser for Celtic, therefore finishing the game with a 1-1 result. With a 5-4 penalty shootout result, the guests finally won. According to ESPN, Wayne Rooney said: 

"It was special to be back at Old Trafford today for the legends game, and it is all for such a good cause," Rooney said postmatch. "It was great to play here again.

"Manchester United Foundation is doing a great job and being involved for a long time, seeing the work it does first-hand, any time we can give to try to help, it's always great to do that. It's a great cause.

"It is important that we continue to do what we can, when we can, to support the Foundation and continue to put smiles on children's faces."

With an amazing record of 559 appearances and 253 goals, Wayne Rooney's remarkable tenure at Manchester United is indelible in history. Starting the club on August 31, 2004, he had a remarkable debut on September 28, 2004, netting a Champions League hat-trick against Fenerbahce. After rising to be the all-time top scorer for United, Rooney departed the team on July 9, 2017, therefore leaving a legacy among the best players in its history.
