WATCH: Mohammed Salah defies the laws of physics, scores directly from corner

Mohammed Salah has struggled for form this season, having won the PFA Player of the year and the Golden Boot in the 207-18 campaign, scoring almost 40 goals in all competitions. In what is a major cause of concern for Liverpool fans, the Egyptian has failed to find the target in the last four games for the Jurgen Klopp side.

With many starting to wonder if the Liverpool forward was just a one-season wonder, Mo Salah has gone onto pull off the unthinkable during Egypt's African Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Swaziland on Friday.

Mo Salah was on the scoresheet as Egyptian strolled past the 136th ranked Swaziland 4-1 at the Al Salam Stadium in Cairo. Taking an in-swinging corner from the right side, the Egyptian caught the opposition keeper off guard to produce an audacious effort which nestled into the goal.

It was only few minutes before half-time that saw the scoreline read 4-0 courtesy of Salah's curling effort. However, Swaziland managed to grab a consolation in the second half after a defensive lapse from Egypt.

Salah's goal saw him take his tally to 13 goals in the African Cup Nations qualifying stages, which is a new Egyptian record.  The record which was previously held by Hossam Hassan. Though, on the overall record front of most goals scored for the Pharaohs, Hassan Ally leads the charts with 78 goals to his name, while Mohammed Salah sits in second place having scored 40 goals. 

The outstanding goal might've grabbed all headlines, however, Liverpool fans had to contain their excitement after Mohammed Salah had to be substituted in the 87th minute of the match due to a 'muscle injury'.

The forward's injury is yet to be assessed, though, Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief (atleast temporarily) after Egypt's assistant coach Hany Ramzy revealed that the injury was not too serious.

With the current state of events, Salah is expected to be rested for Egypt's next away game against Swaziland on Tuesday. While he could also sit out Liverpool's first fixture after the international break.
