Wayne Rooney visited Derby County's training complex on Tuesday to talk through plans for his personal fitness programme as he prepares for his move in January. Rooney is expected to undergo a month's worth of personal fitness and conditioning work, in the hope that he will be fit and available to play for Derby when his registration becomes valid on January 1, 2020.
"He will have a short break before he starts the second part of the season with us. We look forward to seeing him with us soon."

Wayne Rooney signs a deal with Derby County
Earlier in August, Wayne Rooney signed a deal with Derby County to join the club as a player-coach in January on an initial 18-month contract. The deal makes Rooney the highest-paid player in the Championship worth a reported £100,000 a week. Derby previously also indicated Rooney would be forced to follow a 'strict' pre-season regime before he will be allowed to play for the East Midlands club. The former Manchester United player is still in the middle of his post-season rest period, following the end of his stint with Major League Soccer side DC United.
And has begun preparations as well
However, according to reports, it is already the second time Rooney has been to Moor Farm since he came to an agreement with Derby County. It is believed he made a similar visit last week, to familiarise himself with the facilities and meet some of the staff and his new team-mates. The former England captain was said to be in impressive shape as he joined his new teammates for a session at their training base. He apparently also had healthy discussions with the management about the role he will play alongside the coaches. Rooney sees the role as an excellent opportunity to get coaching experience and be nearer to his family in the UK.
