The Kick Sauber Formula One team has been in a world of trouble ever since the season began and their troubles have continued to pile up as the season has progressed. Kick Sauber currently sit at the bottom of the table and are the only team on the Formula 1 grid who are yet to score any points. The Kick Sauber team will officially become Audi from 2026 onwards and will be headed by former Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto.
Binotto recently gave a harsh verdict on the current performances of Kick Sauber and their drivers.
'We cannot afford it'- Binotto On Sauber's Performances
Mattia Binotto recently shared his views on the current state and performances by the Kick Sauber team who will become Audi from 2026 onwards.
“We cannot afford it. I think this is the team that has to become, in the future, a winning team. And the only way to do that is starting to move up, progressing. We need to train our muscles for the future.
“So, yes, I think we need certainly to improve. That's important for ourselves, that's important for the team. It's important for the brand. It's important for our partners. And we cannot somehow accept the current position,” said Binotto in his harsh review of Sauber.
Binotto On Sauber's Failures
Kick Sauber have not been able to improve upon their failures all season as they look to get a point from anywhere. Binotto further added on how Sauber needs to do a lot of work so that they can reach the levels of the other cars.
“We cannot hide behind the fact that we have been last and second last in the Zandvoort race, and qualifying [here], the same positions some distance to the cars ahead. So, we need to put effort in improving.
“We need to balance all the priorities and our efforts from the short to the medium and the long term. But I don't think certainly that our position today is a comfortable one for us at all. It's very painful.
“As I said, we need to train our muscles, and we need to improve because the solid foundations do not come in one day. It's a team that needs to do continuous progress every single day, step by step. So, starting from as soon as possible I would say.”
Binotto officially became a part of Kick Sauber from 1st August onwards and has been reviweing things in the team.
