Former Red Bull Driver Believes Aston Martin Will Put Up A Tough Fight For Max Verstappen.
Former Red Bull driver Robert Doornbos recently gave his opinion on Max Verstappen's future and believes that Aston Martin will do everything to sign him.

Max Verstappen is currently dominating the Formula One scenario has he already has 3 World Championships under his belt is on his way to win a fourth. As Verstappen continues to dominate on the track, several rumors have emerged that say that the Dutch driver could possibly leave the team due to the ongoing internal matters.
These rumors of Verstappen leaving have come after Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was accused of misbehaving with a female employee. There have also been rumors of a power struggle going on within the team which have caused a massive blow to the reputation of the team.
Where Will Verstappen Go?
It is a serious discussion around the Formula One grid regarding where will Max Verstappen go in 2026. Currently all of the fingers point towards Mercedes as Lewis Hamilton leaves the team to join Ferrari, Mercedes would want a championship caliber driver to replace him. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has not been shy from praising Verstappen in public forums in attempt to get Max to the team.
Former Red Bull driver Robert Doornbos believes that Verstappen will join Mercedes om 2026 but the Silver Arrows could face severe competition from Aston Martin who would also be looking to sign the driver. On his LinkedIn post Doornbos wrote, "I still believe Max will join Mercedes in 2026, although Aston Martin will do everything to sway him, sparing no expense. Led by Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin has been aggressively pushing to become title contenders within five years.”
Aston Martin Pushing To Be Championship Contenders
For the past few seasons, Aston Martin have been pushing to become a Championship contender side with the backing of their billionaire owner Lawrence Stroll. The immense financial power of Stroll could be used to lure Verstappen towards Aston Martin. Apart from Verstappen, there are several rumors that Aston Martin are trying to sign Adrian Newey after he announced he would be leaving Red Bull.
Regarding Lawrence Stroll, Doornbos wrote," Now in their third year, they must make significant strides in the next two. Their exclusive engine deal with Honda in 2026 positions them as a factory team and Stroll is investing a billion dollars to achieve his championship dream. With two-time Champion Fernando Alonso already on board and advances made to Max Verstappen, they’re aiming for the best of the best.”
Aston Martin currently sit at fifth in the Constructors Championship with 73 points.
