Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen recently opened up about the issues that had plagued Red Bull and himself. Red Bull lost their dominance mid way into the 2024 season and no longer remained competitive. This has been causing a world of problems for Red Bull and Max Verstappen as Red Bull recently lost their lead in the Constructors Championship to McLaren and Lando Norris is on the track to stop Verstappen from winning the 2024 Drivers Championship.

Max Verstappen believes that the issues that plagued Red Bull are now behind them and better times are coming from Austin GP onwards.

The Problems With Red Bull's Car

Max Verstappen during a sit down with motorsport.com talked in detail about the issues faced by Red Bull and what they are doing to get back to their dominant ways.

"In the beginning I was surprised as well, but if you look at what our problems were, then I fully understand it.

"At some point, we have gone in the wrong direction. The other teams have either not faced that particular point yet or they developed the car in a slightly different way. That is always difficult to assess.

"Early on I realised that the feeling was very different from last year's car in terms of balance.

“At that time our car was still a lot quicker than the others, or maybe I should say that the others were not so good back then, so at that stage we could still compensate for our difficulties. In the races after that it got worse and worse. At one point our car was just very difficult to drive and at the same time the others made real progress,” stated Verstappen.

Positive Signs For Red Bull Ahead Of Austin

Verstappen revealed that the upgrades that they got to Baku felt better and it could be the start of good things to come for the Austrian team.

"Yes, it felt better. That was already a good step for us. I do think we are moving in the right direction now, it will take some time. You can't turn something like this around in one or two weeks. But I do think the team was happy with what they saw in Baku as well."

With the upgrades proving to improve the Red Bull car, Verstappen is hopeful that he will be a competitive figure once again as he looks to defend his championship crown.

"Yes, I do think so to be honest. Hopefully we can continue to make good steps from here," said Verstappen on the steps Red Bull are taking.
