Fernando Alonso arrived late at the Interlagos Circuit in Brazil. Know the reason why!
Fernando Alonso arrived much later than the rest of the grid to the upcoming Brazilian Grand Prix. It has been announced by the Aston Martin F1 team that Fernando Alonso will be missing all of his media and press duties this weekend but will very much be a part of the race on Sunday. Fernando Alonso is currently in the ninth place in the World Drivers Championship standings as he looks to improve upon his points and his season. Know why Fernando Alonso arrived late to Interlagos for the Brazilian GP.
Why Did Fernando Alonso Arrive Late To Interlagos
Fernando Alonso will arrive late to this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix following the veteran driver’s treatment in Europe for an intestinal infection, the Aston Martin team said Wednesday.
The Formula One team said the 43-year-old Spaniard will miss media activities Thursday but will be ready to race at Interlagos.
Alonso, a two-time F1 champion, had fallen ill in the lead-up to the Mexico City Grand Prix last weekend, the team said.
“He returned to Europe to receive further treatment from a specialist,” Aston Martin’s statement said. “The extra day of treatment has delayed his travel plans to Brazil but ensures he will be ready for this weekend’s racing.”
