Leclerc Relishes Hamilton Challenge As 7-Time World Champion Joins Ferrari Next Year

Current Mercedes driver and 7-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton is all set to join Ferrari next year as he has decided to leave Mercedes after 11-years with the team. Lewis has decided to carry out his hunt for his 8th World Championship with Ferrari who are the most successful team in Formula One but have seen a sharp decline in recent years. 

Lewis Hamilton will team up with Charles Leclerc at Ferrari. The young Monegasque driver says he relishes the challenge and the experience that Hamilton will bring to the team.

Leclerc Full Of Praises For Hamilton

During an interview with Motorsport.com, Charles Leclerc revealed that he looks forward to working with Hamilton. 

"When you have a seven-time world champion joining the team, it's always good news," said Leclerc after showering praises to his outgoing teammate Carlos Sainz.

"First, because it's super interesting and super motivating for me. Super interesting because I can learn from one of the best-ever Formula 1 drivers," he further added.

"And second, super motivating because I'm super motivated to show what I'm capable of doing against Lewis in the same car. So, for these two reasons, I'm really looking forward to it," said Leclerc. Leclerc had signed a massive contract extension with Ferrari just a week before it was revealed that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team from 2025 onwards. 

Lewis Hamilton Joining Ferrari Was No Surprise To Leclerc 

Charles Leclerc had signed a major contract extension with Ferrari just a week before it was announced that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team.

“I knew that it was a possibility and that it was likely because both sides wanted to make it happen. But I was happy with that, so I definitely knew that it was more likely than not. That was enough for me. I didn't ask many more details, also, because I'm not entitled to know all of this, and I don't want to know all of this, but everybody has always been super honest with me,” said Leclerc.

He further added, "If anything, it reassured me even more, because when you take a driver like Lewis Hamilton within the team, it obviously is a strong sign. I think that could be a positive thing seen from our side, and could bring some extremely talented people to the team. So I saw that as a positive, if anything." 

Leclerc implied he knew Lewis was going to join Ferrari at the time of his contract extension and he relishes the challenge that the 7-time Champion will bring.
