The Time Lando Norris Battled Torturous Illness While Racing At The Spanish Grand Prix
It was recently revealed in Ben Hunt's autobiography about the time Lando Norris narrated the most difficult race weekend of his career to him.
Recently Ben Hunt's book on Lando Norris titled, Lando Norris: A Biography came out. The book has recently revealed all of the struggles the young British driver went through during the 2022 Spanish Grand Prix. Lando Norris had narrated this incident to Ben Hunt and the book reveals all of the tribulations the driver went through.
The McLaren driver was diagnosed with tonsillitis at the start of the race weekend and his condition got progressively worse as the weekend progressed. Lando Norris has been quoted as saying that it was the toughest race weekend of his life.
It Was Like Swallowing Daggers- Norris
While being diagnosed with tonsillitis at the start of the Spanish Grand Prix race weekend, Lando struggled with the disease as the symptoms got progressively worse. By the time of race day, Lando struggled with cold sweats, fever and muscle ache.
While talking to Ben Hunt, Norris has been quoted saying, “My symptoms got progressively worse through that race weekend: cold sweats, fever, aching muscles. By Sunday, my throat was so sore it was like swallowing daggers. I could barely drink because it hurt so much,” while explaining his situation during the Spanish GP.
Lando managed to finish P8 during the race and also beat his them teammate Daniel Ricciardo who finished P12.
Road To Recovery For Monaco GP
After the conclusion of the race, Norris needed immediate medical help and had to miss the post-race media sessions. Then on Norris continued to stay in his home in Monaco with his girlfriend and parents as he continued to recover.
The Thursday before the Monaco GP, he started to feel better but still had to miss a lot of media commitments due to him being weakened by the situation.
