Disappointing Weekend For Mercedes
The problems for Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russel started at the start of the weekend. During qualifying it was an absolute shocker when Lewis Hamilton was eliminated during Q2 as the Mercedes car seriously lacked in pace.
George Russel started the race in P4 but slowly fell down the order as the race progressed.
Before the Dutch Grand Prix, Mercedes were high on confidence as they had won 3 out of 4 races but fell down the order at the Dutch Grand Prix. Both Mercedes drivers finished out of the top 6 in the Dutch Grand Prix and Mercedes Team Principle Toto Wolff is desperate to fix the issues that plague the silver arrows.
Toto Wolff Addresses Issues
Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff spoke about the issues plaguing the car after the Dutch Grand Prix. \
“We’ve had six podiums in a row and that doesn’t look like the car three weeks ago that was first and second, at least first on merit [after Russell was disqualified].
“You can’t really end up with a result like this without any major factor playing, and that’s something we need to analyse in the next few days until Monza.
“Was it a setup? Was it the track? What is it that we got wrong? Was it the floor that we put on the car? Was it all of this together?
“Hopefully we can sort it out for Monza and become competitive again, but the swing in performance from P1-P2 to P7-P8 there’s a biggie in there.
“It’s not something that was simply a setup decision in my opinion,” said Toto Wolff after the disappointing race.
Mercedes currently sit fourth in the Constructors Championship.
