Valtteri Bottas is a name that has become synonymous to Formula One as the driver has cemented himself on the grid as one of the best to currently drive an F1 car. Bottas has been in Formula One for over a decade as he had started his career with Williams when he made his debut with the team back in 2013.

Before the start of the 2017 season, Bottas was picked up Mercedes. During his time with Mercedes, the Finnish driver came second in the championship twice in 2019 and 2020 and helped Mercedes win 5 Constructors Championships.

‘I Was Always All In’

Recently in a podcast Bottas opened up about how if his plan to become an F1 driver had not worked out then he would have been a car mechanic.

Bottas revealed that he had studied to be a car mechanic so if his all-in plan to get into F1 hadn't worked, he would have been a mechanic. “I studied to be a car mechanic. That was kind of my backup option. At least I had studied for something and I [was] qualified for the job, you know. But like you said, I was always all in,” said Bottas during the podcast.

However Bottas did not have to resort to his backup plan as his all-in plan to become a Formula One driver did pan out.
