'Phenomenal Accomplishment': Hockey India Women’s Team Earns Praise from PM Modi After Winning ACT

After an exceptional win over China at Women's ACT, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has heaped praise over Hockey India side for their third title win.

The Indian Women's Hockey Team did wonders at Rajgir, Bihar after they rallied through China and defeated them at the Women's Asian Champions Trophy Final. The Indian side showcased utter dominance throughout the tournament and eventually emerged as the queens as they lifted the title for the third time. The exceptional win received praise from all over as they capped off a nail-biting finish over the side. Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi , has shared his appreciation for the women's hockey side.

After Team India Women's side defeated China at the Women's Asian Champions Trophy Final in Rajgir, The Prime Minister of India sent out a congratulatory tweet for the victorious side. PM Narendra Modi applauded the players for the accomplishment and also said that they played exceptionally well in the tournament. The Indian Prime Minister also said the win would help motivate several up-and-coming athletes.

"A phenomenal accomplishment! Congratulations to our hockey team on winning the Women's Asian Champions Trophy. They played exceptionally well through the tournament. Their success will motivate many upcoming athletes," PM Modi tweeted on 'X' [Formerly known as Twitter].

Speaking of the match, with an exciting 1-0 victory in the final, the Indian women's hockey team successfully defended their Asian Champions Trophy title, defeating Olympic silver medallist China. In the final, which took place in Rajgir, Bihar, the Indian team showed tenacity and resolve by defeating China. With 11 goals, young striker Deepika finished as the tournament's top scorer. She scored India's winning goal from a penalty corner in the 31st minute.

Earlier in the tournament, India had blown China away 3-0 in the league stages. After taking home the top honours in 2016 and 2023, it was India's third ACT championship.

China will have to be content with finishing as third runners-up. Earlier in the day, Japan defeated Malaysia 4-1 in the third-fourth-place classification match, securing third place on the podium.
