Indian Army lauds Subedar Gunasekaran after he wins 3 Golds at Wuhan
The Indian Army has congratulated and lauded Subedar Anandan's efforts after he bagged three golds for the Indian Army in the 2019 Wuhan World Military Games
Subedar Anandan Gunsekaran an officer of the Indian Army has won three Gold Medals in the 7th Military World Games 2019 in Wuhan. The Indian Army has congratulated the champion and lauded his efforts.

Subedar Anandan Gunsekaran wins three Gold medals
Subedar Anandan clinched three Gold medals for the Indian Army on Tuesday in the seventh World Military games 2019 in Wuhan. The officer has won the Gold in 100,200 and 400-meter categories each. Anandan has also qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after winning the 200-meter event in Handisport Open Paris 2019. Anandan is the first Indian Para Athlete in the TT-44 category to win a medal for the Army and break the Asian Record.
He was sponsored by the Indian Army and Paralympic Committee of India for the Sri Lanka Army Para Games where he bagged a silver medal in the 100-meter event and a Gold in the 200-meter event. In 2018, he participated in Para Asian Games 2018 held at Jakarta, winning silver in 400 meters and bronze in the 200 meters events.
Gunasekaran suffered a mine blast injury
A member of the Madras Sappers since September 2005, he was posted to the 10th Engineer Regiment. On June 4, 2008, Anandan stepped on a mine, resulting in a blast. Gunasekaran was then provided with an artificial leg. "If there is one dream I have, it is to run along with the able-bodied individuals in a competitive race" he had said in a statement to the media. Despite, all the setbacks he received he continued to pursue his sporting interests with his new appendage, qualifying for a range of para-athletic events.
