Kofi Kingston recreates 2009 'Boom Drop' scene with Randy Orton at MSG
The WWE champion Kofi Kingston turned the clock back on this past week's SmackDown&recreated the same moment at the same venue, leaving Randy Orton in a heap.
WWE champion Kofi Kingston is on a roll ever since he captured the title from Daniel Bryan at Wrestlemania earlier this year. He has remained the WWE champion for over four months and has defied the odds of losing the belt even in the toughest of the circumstances. Kofi Kingston's association with the WWE dates back to more than 15 years, as the star rose from ECW to WWE and then finally went on to become champion in the summer of 2019. Through his years in WWE, Kofi Kingston has had some intense rivalries. One of the most famous rivalry was with WWE's Apex Predator Randy Orton. Back in 2009, their rivalry was pushed to such extents where Kofi Kingston had 'boom-dropped' Randy Orton on a table among the audience at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The WWE champion turned the clock back on this past week's SmackDown Live and recreated the same moment at the same venue, leaving Randy Orton in a heap.
Kofi Kingston 'boom-drops' Randy Orton
Nicknamed WWE's Apex Predator, Randy Orton is known for his cunning ways and harsh attack at his opponents. Randy Orton wears his opponent out both physically and mentally and does it in a systematic fashion. After dismantling Kofi Kingston's New Day partners Xavier Woods and Big E with the help of The Revival two weeks before, Randy Orton attempted to repeat the same actions that had left Kofi Kingston on the ground after last week's SmackDown Live. However, Kofi Kingston, who had warned Randy that he would recreate the moment, did not step back from the fight and took it to Randy Orton. The two superstars fought each other among the audience leading up to the top stands. It was here that Kofi Kingston used a steel chair to fell Orton and placed him on a table, setting him up for the drop. Kofi Kingston then recreated the decade-old 'Boom-drop' at the MSG, leaving Randy Orton clutching his ribs as Kofi waved to his fans.
Shane McMahon fires Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens was at trouble with the authorities ever since his return to the ring. His feud with Shane McMahon lasted for more than two months, with both the stars battling it out at many pay-per-view events. Kevin Owens had delivered a stunner to Shane McMahon two weeks before on SmackDown, leading to a fine of $100,000 to be imposed on him. Though Owens sought relief from Shane McMahon, the SmackDown commissioner waited for the right opportunity to use Owens and it came this past Tuesday. Shane McMahon was initially defeated by Gable following a perfect roll-up suplex from the underdog, following which he made the match a two out of three falls match. Owens tried his best to officiate neutrally but was under extreme pressure from Shane and hence made a fast count that saw the second fall go to Shane. However, in the third round, Gable astonishingly managed to get the ankle lock on, making Shane tap out. While the bell rang indicating that Gable was victorious and would proceed to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament, a frustrated Shane McMahon attacked Kevin Owens from behind and landed several punches on his face before saying 'You're fired'!.
