Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton finally wrapped up his sixth Formula 1 world title after finishing second at the United States Grand Prix with team-mate Valtteri Bottas going on to win the race.

The situation was quite simple for the British driver as he needed to finish inside the top-eight to guarantee a third championship in a row. The victory also moves him second on the all-time list, only one behind Michael Schumacher. Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull in his 100th grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton Formula 1 title in 2008

Hamilton at the age of 23, secured his first drivers’ championship becoming the youngest person and the first black driver to capture that title.

Lewis Hamilton Formula 1 title in 2014

Lewis Hamilton clinched the second championship of his career in Abu Dhabi beating Nico Rosberg to the Formula 1world title. He also became the second British driver to win two world titles.

Lewis Hamilton Formula 1 title in 2015

Mercedes won his third Formula 1 World Championship to become only the second British driver after Sir Jackie Stewart to achieve the feat. Hamilton won a thrilling United States Grand Prix to seal the drivers' title with his 10th victory of 2015.

Lewis Hamilton Formula 1 title in 2017

Hamilton secured his fourth drivers' title two races prior to the season finale. His ninth-place finish at the Mexican Grand Prix that year secured the tile for the British driver who fended off fierce competition from Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel

Lewis Hamilton Formula 1 title in 2018

Hamilton wrapped up the 2018 crown with fourth place at the Mexican GP. He also became just the third driver in history to win five or more Drivers' Championships after Juan Manuel Fangio.
