The Los Angeles Clippers played their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers in which they triumphed against the Lakers, 112-102. Their hero was Kawhi Leonard, who scored 30 points with six rebounds and five assists.

The Charlotte Hornets opened their season against the Chicago Bulls and ended up beating the Bulls by just a point. Their best scorer in the match was PJ Washington, who scored 27 points with four rebounds and one assist.
