The NBA 2019 pre-season wasn't too kind on the Los Angeles Clippers but we all know that pre-season games cannot be taken as gospel, as evidenced in the Clippers' 112-102 victory of the Lakers in their NBA 2019-20 season opener. Their new acquisition - Kawhi Leonard - dominated proceedings as he racked up 30 points in the Clippers' opening game. The game against the mighty Golden State Warriors, however, proved to be a whole new challenge for the Clippers.
LAC vs GSW highlights
The Warriors, who have enjoyed a run of five consecutive trips to the NBA finals, relied on 2019 NBA All-Star D'Angelo Russell and Stephen Curry to lead them to victory. That would, however, prove to be a tall order, as the game ended in a 141-122 victory in favour of Clippers. There was some consolation for Steph Curry, as he did end the game with the highest points, racking up 23 points with four rebounds and four assists. Kawhi Leonard, however, once again came to the fore, as the former Raptors star notched 21 points with five rebounds and nine assists in the four quarters.

The Clippers, who signed Kawhi Leonard from the Toronto Raptors this season, along with six-time All-Star Paul George, went into the game as favourites and did not disappoint. Lou Williams dominated this game for the Clippers, as he racked up 22 points with three rebounds and eight assists. Former Oklahoma power forward Patrick Patterson also came to the fore for the Clippers, as he notched 20 points to comfortably see the Clippers through to victory.
The Warriors will be disappointed to return empty-handed from their new state-of-the-art Chase Center arena. Only Steph Curry and Draymond Green remain from their days of dominance. Draymond Green could only manage a total of 11 points with four rebounds and three assists. D'Angelo Russell, however, impressed against the Clippers by racking up 20 points with eight assists. Here are the player ratings from the game -
