The much-awaited 2019-20 season of the NBA season is slated to kick off this week. A number of players have been traded and a number of pre-season games have been played. However, it's not just the players donning new colours that fans will be looking forward to.

The Golden State Warriors have moved into the Chase Center this season, and their new waterfront arena in San Francisco promises to be the benchmark for new arena construction in North America. Having played all of their home games at the Oracle Arena since way back in 1971, the Warriors are set to throw open their doors to their new state-of-the-art arena for the 2019-20 season. The Chase Center features a design that includes a main bowl for basketball and concerts, and even a theatre design for smaller events.

NBA: Warriors' Chase Center set to be the envy of rivals

Stephen Curry may have mastered the art of the audacious three-pointer but the Warriors' new stadium also promises to master the art of being the model for future development. In an era where major NBA cities are wrestling with the task of new arena projects, the Warriors have raced ahead to build a facility that will no doubt be the envy of their rivals. While the Warriors have played 47 seasons in Oakland's Oracle Arena, the arena and its fans have arguably been more impressive than the Warriors themselves.

Interestingly, the Chase Center is the first privately financed modern sports arena. The makers of the billion-dollar arena, however, have opted for a more intimate fan experience, rather than maximizing the seating for the venue. The opening of the Chase Center is also set to be a boost for San Francisco, as the Warriors plan on adding a sizeable number of employees to keep a hold on every aspect of the business. However, the Warriors weren't the ones opening their new state-of-the-art arena. The heavy metal band Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony played at the inauguration of the sports and entertainment centre during a supersized concert on September 6, earlier this year. In other arena news, the Cleveland Cavaliers renamed their home arena, previously known as the Quicken Loans Arena to the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in April, earlier this year.
