Kyrie Irving succumbing to the weight of the expectations of Brooklyn Nets' fans could very well be the wish of the rivals of the Nets this season. However, if the Nets' rival fans were dropping penny after penny in the wishing well, their efforts failed to materialize as Kyrie Irving dropped 50 points on his debut for the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. Irving, who moved to the Nets after an arguably disappointing season with the Boston Celtics, displayed his complete arsenal of showmanship as he dazzled in his debut for the Nets.
Not the result we wanted, but a historic Nets debut from @KyrieIrving.

In dropping a 50-point display against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Irving became the just the seventh player in Nets' history to net 50 points in a game. For Irving, this was his first 50-point display in his career. His dominating display against the Timberwolves consisted of 17-of-33 shooting, with a 7-of-14 showing coming from the three-point range. That's one way of announcing yourself to the Nets fans.
Irving's impressive display, however, proved to fall just short, as the Minnesota Timberwolves emerged winner against the Brooklyn Nets by a slim margin of 127-126. Irving racked up 12 points in the opening period of the game. He also recorded his first basket after just under three minutes as a Net. There was a moment when Irving was on song. That is when this happened.

Irving asserts dominance
Irving appeared to count each defender he beat during a fastbreak opportunity. Irving took his time but suddenly stepped it up a notch, as he beat the three Wolves players who tried to block the shot. He then got caught up in the moment and appeared to count each defender he beat after netting the basket. Interestingly, during his 50-point display, Kyrie Irving also went on to set a record. The former Celtics star now holds the record for most points in an NBA debut. Nets fans will be licking their lips at the prospect of having one of the most potent scorers in the league, as the Nets look to challenge for the crown this season.
