Defending champion Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two successive Olympic medals with a silver in men's javelin throw.
Paris Olympics 2024: Neeraj Chopra secured a silver medal in the men's javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Friday, in another proud moment for India. This is Neeraj Chopra's second consecutive medal in the Olympic games. He made the nation proud with gold in Tokyo Olympics 2020.
A player gets six attempts in the game and the best one out of them is considered to be the final score. In Friday's final, Neeraj Chopra best throw was at 89.45 meters which he made in the second attempt, however, all the remaining attempts resulted in fouls. As Neeraj confirmed the silver, celebrations began at his hometown and across the nation to cheer India's javelin throw star.

While Neeraj bagged the silver in the Olympics men's javelin throw event, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem grabbed the gold with a new Games record of 92.97 meters.
The earlier Olympic record stood at 90.57m in the name of Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, set during the 2008 Beijing Games.
