Neeraj Chopra Wins Silver Medal At Paris Olympics With Season Best Throw of 89.45M, Nadeem Gets Gold

Neeraj Chopra has secured the Silver medal at Paris Olympics in the Javelin throw final. Neeraj was seen as India's premier medal prospect from the start of the Paris Olympics 2024 games, and India's golden boy did not falter at the biggest stage. After qualifying for the final, taking just one attempt (89.34m), Neeraj Chopra rode on the momentum to finish at the podium. He started the final with a foul but bounced back in the second attempt to hit the 89.45m distance. Chopra voluntarily fouled his rest of the throws as he could not breach the required mark to retain the Gold medal that he won in Tokyo Olympics. However, his throw of 89.45 was good enough to put him second on the podium. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem won the Gold medal in Javelin throw final. Nadeem threw 92.97m in his second attempt, which bagged him the Gold.

Gold eluded defending champion Neeraj Chopra as he signed off with a silver in the Olympics men's javelin throw event, while Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem bossed the field with a new Games record of 92.97m here on Thursday. The 26-year-old Chopra, who has never lost to Nadeem in their earlier 10 meetings, took the silver with his second round throw of 89.45m. He had won gold in Tokyo with a throw of 87.58m three years ago. The season's best effort was the Indian's only legitimate throw of the evening. Nadeem's monster effort -- sixth longest in history -- also came in his second attempt which was like a bolt from the blue that stunned the Stade de France. The earlier Olympic record stood at 90.57m in the name of Andreas Thorkildsen of Norway, set during the 2008 Beijing Games.
