‘Honour of a Lifetime’: Manu Bhaker Exhibits Her Emotions as Flag Bearer at Olympic Closing Ceremony

The Paris Olympics officially came to an end on Sunday, ending the Indian contingent's run at the historic quadrennial event in the French Capital. India witnessed some dazzling performances and a new star emerging in markswoman Manu Bhaker, who made history in France. The star-Indian markswoman was elected as the co-flag-bearer for her heroic performance, which opened India's tally in the sporting event. Manu expressed her delight in being named as the co-flag-bearer alongside Veteran Hockey India goalkeeper PR Sreejesh.

Before Team India headed to the closing Ceremony of the Olympics at the Stade de France, Bronze medallists PR Sreejesh and Manu Bhaker expressed themselves on being the co-flag-bearers. Double Bronze medalist Manu revealed that she was honoured to be elected as the flag bearer for the occasion, deeming it a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

"I feel great, and carrying the flag in the closing ceremony would be an honour of a lifetime. I will always cherish this memory," Indian Markswoman Manu Bhaker explained ahead of the Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony via JioCinema.

Manu Bhaker opened India's medal tally, and two of the six medals were won by the Indian Markswoman. She opened India's count while in singles action after she secured the bronze medal in Women's 50m Air Pistol. She secured her second medal while pairing up with Sarabjot Singh in mixed action at the 50m Air Pistol Event, taking the count to two.

Markswoman Bhaker came close to a medal trifecta in the Women's 25m Pistol Precision, but she slipped off her lead during the shootout and came fourth in her outing. But Manu had already made history after becoming the first Indian to secure two consecutive medals in the same event in the post-independence era. The medal wins have already pumped the motivation to Manu Bhaker and she would be prepared the next time when the Olympic Games head to Los Angeles.
