India's Day 5 Olympic Schedule: Badminton Takes Centre Stage & High Hopes From Lovlina in the Ring

On Day 5 of the Paris Olympics, focus moves to badminton after a glorious day in shooting. Despite the elimination of Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa from the women's doubles event the previous day, the Indian team—which has so far captured two bronze medals—hopes to witness notable improvement among its badminton players.

In the men's singles group stage Lakshya Sen had a pivotal encounter against Jonatan Christie. A win for Lakshya would set up a potential second-round match with HS Prannoy. PV Sindhu will be playing early in the day as well, hoping for her third Olympic badminton medal.

With their POSSIBLE medal event set for 7 PM IST, the women's trap shooters have a big day ahead only if they secure the berth for the finals.

Wednesday is also significant for boxing; Lovlina Borgohain is competing in her Round of 16 match late on. After Amit Panghal left, Nishant Dev, who will participate late in the men's 71kg category, now holds expectations for the men's boxing contingent.
